Discussion with christians

Aufgrund meiner Emailadresse bekomme ich oft falsche  Emails die eigentlich nicht an mich gerichtet sind, diese Diskussion fand ich recht interessant. Am Besten von unten nach oben lesen.

I can see no practical difference between being an atheist and a christian. In my daily life it makes no difference. I try to be a social person and I try to help as many people as possible, the difference is probably why I do it. I don't do it because of god, I do it because it is the right thing to do.
The "right thing to do" is defined by my education and the universal human basics of social behaviour "don't do something to others, you wouldn't want them to do to you".

I don't believe there is anything left after I die, so everything I want to do, I have to do in this short life. Everything I want to be remembered for I have to do now.
My first daughter is on her way, so I will try to raise her on these principles.

If I need comfort I find it in the people around me, my wife, my family, my friends and the universal human kindness. If something goes wrong it's our fault and we have to fix it, if something goes right it's our fault.

My understanding how the world works is based on science, that means my understanding is changing with time, my world view is full of doubt. So I don't have the confidence in my beliefs that some christians seem to have, but I take comfort in the Dunning-Kruger Effect http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunning–Kruger_effect, people who are too confident are wrong most of the time.

Life as an atheist is good.

Do you really believe that Noah took a pair of every animal species on a wooden ship? Or that your belief and story is right and that the 20.000 other stories and religions are wrong?

My belief is much more simple I believe they are all wrong and that only what we see, can test, or abstract is real.

I'm probably not the person you wanted to send the first email to, just to clear things up :)

regards,
Florian

I'm so sorry to learn that.  I have enjoyed my Christian experience for over 40 years.  I have found it to be a life of hope, joy, peace & promise.  What is life like as an atheist?  I am seriously interested.
